She was the only one who had been in our yard. The only one who could have buried it while I was cooking or with our child. I didn’t know what to do.
I brought the bag to a church.
The priest said it was “a curse meant to destroy a family.”
I never believed in such things, but what happened with our dog, and everything my mother-in-law said and did those last days… it all fit into one terrifying picture. Since then, I’ve forbidden her from ever setting foot in our home again.
I told my husband everything. At first, he didn’t believe me — but then he saw the photos and the bag I had kept as proof.
He was silent for a long time.
And since then, our dog only sleeps at the door — as if guarding us. I don’t know what exactly my mother-in-law intended, but I’m certain of one thing: she will never cross the threshold of our home again. What do you think — am I overreacting?
Could it be something else?
