My 101-Year-Old Grandmother Couldn’t Walk but Refused to Miss My Daughter’s First Birthday – She Arrived with a Bag on Her Wheelchair

My uncle laughed.

Mom sat.

I peeled away the tissue paper.

Underneath was a wooden box.

Dark walnut, scratched at the corners, with a little brass clasp.

I recognized it immediately.

“Oh my God.”

Mom leaned forward.
