Doña Rosa was already 70 years old. She lived with her eldest son, Javier, and his wife, Patricia, in a spacious, well-located house in town Guadalajara.
During the day, she used to sit on the porch watching the cars go by and occasionally chatting with the neighbors.
Everyone thought she led a peaceful and happy life. But behind closed doors, the reality was very different.
Her daughter-in-law, Patricia, often frowned and murmured that the woman was “just a burden,” that “she was no good for anything when she was old.” Javier, busy with work and business, kept silent and let the comments pass.
