The Moment Everything Fell Apart
Then came the day that truly shattered me. Sarah asked if I could “try the dress on first, so she could see how it looked on someone.” I froze.
I couldn’t even find the words to answer. The thought alone made me sick with sadness.
The next morning, I went to check on the dress — and found out she had taken it herself. She had tried it on.
And in the process, she tore one of the seams. The gown was damaged beyond repair. My mom’s beautiful dress — the one thing that still felt like her — was gone.
What I’m Left With
Now, I’m sitting here wondering if my dad was right.
Am I just being too emotional? Or is it okay to feel this hurt — to believe that something sacred was taken from me?
All I know is, that dress was more than silk and thread. It was the one thing that still carried her presence.
And now, even that is gone.
