My Daughter-in-Law Threw Away My Grandson’s Cake Because It ‘Looked Cheap’ – 10 Minutes Later, She Offered Me $500 to Get It Back

I’d made the same birthday cake for my grandson five years in a row. This was the first year someone decided it didn’t belong at his party.

For my grandson Mason’s tenth birthday, I baked the same chocolate cake he’d asked for every year since he was five.

Nothing fancy.

Chocolate frosting, strawberries around the edge, and his name written across the top.

She’d hired a party planner, invited Mason’s whole class and their parents, and spent weeks making sure everything looked perfect.

My daughter-in-law appeared before I’d made it to the kitchen.

She was wearing a cream dress and carrying her phone.

Then she saw my cake box.

“You brought that?”

“Mason asked me to make it.”

Vanessa glanced toward the dining room.

On a decorated table stood a three-tier cake covered in blue fondant, gold stars, and what looked like an edible race track.
